Ephesians 3:17-19
5 Knowing the Unknowable

This is sermon number five in our summer Paradox Series.

In Ephesians 3:17-19 Paul prays for the church in Ephesus, and for us today, that they and we “may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge.” There it is, he wants us to know something that is beyond understanding! While we can know and experience Christ’s love to a certain extent as individuals, our capacity for a wider, longer, higher, and deeper experience of this love can only happen in fellowship with the saints. This is why congregational life is vital to our faith walk. This is the reason to be part of the church. Yes, we will disagree, sometimes fight, and rub each other the wrong way, but it is precisely in this kind of environment that together we experience this great love. This is why a Christian without a church is so unbiblical.

This sermon will offer three practical ways we can grow our capacity to experience Christ’s amazing love.
