2 Corinthians 9:6-8; Acts 20:35
6 You Want Me to Give Cheerfully?

According to St. Paul, Jesus said "it is more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35). Yet, many of us find giving hard to do and we find receiving embarrassing rather than a blessing. The former is a matter of trust and the latter an issue or pride. Yet in the main text (2 Corinthians 9:6-8) we find four principles related to giving:

  1. The principle of sowing and reaping
  2. The principle of giving for the right reason with the right attitude
  3. The principle of generosity
  4. The principle of contentment

At the coclusion of the sermon four key questions are asked to help us become cheerful givers.

Are you a generous and cheerful giver? Why or why not? Several quotes from Chip Ingram and Randy Alcorn are mentioned in the sermon, is one from Randy Alcorn: "The cheerfulness often comes during or after the act of obedience, not before it. So don't wait until you feel like giving - it could be a long wait! Just give and watch the joy follow."
