As we begin our new sermon series Transformed: 6 Marks of a Disciple, you are also invited to join us in 22 Days of Prayer and Fasting. Prayer and fasting are two things that can help us foster a deeper hunger for God. You can fast anywhere from one day to 22 days, depending on how the Lord leads you (note: check with your health practitioner for advice if you have a medical condition that may interfere with fasting). In the Bible fasting is abstaining from food, but you may wish to fast from other things as well. Prayer can actually be harder than fasting, but take some simple steps to enhance your prayer life during these 22 days. As Dallas Willard says that prayer is friendship with God and that "communicating with God is not always or primarily a matter about being told what to do and for many people cannot progress in their relationship with God because they are just thinking in terms of being told what to do." You are also encourage to dig deep into the Bible during this time, it has the power to creater a greater passion for God.
