[Click HERE to join us at 10:00am Sundays for our Worship Celebration livestream event on Facebook]

Life in Alberta has changed significantly in the last week or so with the appearance of the first confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus-19 (COVID-19). The cases have continue to grow rapidly since then. The majority of the cases are in the Calgary and Edmonton health regions. In an effort to stem the spread - flatten the curve - the Alberta government has instituted some significant measures that have an impact on church gatherings. But our office remains open 9:00am to 3:00pm Monday through Thursday.

In compliance with the new restrictions, please note the following:

  • We are not cancelling our Sunday morning worship celebration, it is moving exclusively to an online format starting March 22. You will be able to enjoy and participate in the worship celebration from the comfort of your living room, kitchen, or even bed. It will be livestream on Facebook
  • Friday Youth is cancelled indefinetely, but plans are being put in place to maintain online communication with the youth
  • KidsMania Klub (Wednesday after school) is cancelled until further notice, but digital communication with parents/caregivers is ongoing. We are providing or recommending resources for parents/caregivers to use with their children during this time
  • Seniors Life Group has been cancelled for the foreseeable future, especially because they are some of the most vulneral folks to this virus. The leaders are staying in touch with them
  • All other Life Groups have the options to continue to meet or to cancel at the discretion of the leaders. They are communicating with those in their groups directly
  • We are looking for way in which we can serve one another, especially our seniors, at this time. If we can serve you in some way (picking up groceries, mail, prayer, pastoral care, etc.), please contact Pastor Gil or the church office
  • [Virtual] Community: You are encouraged to stay in touch with each other via a phone call, text message, video call, or even social media. You can still visit as long as it's not more than a few people and that you adhere to the provincial guidelines. If you are feeling unwell, have flu-like symptoms, have returned from international travel after March 8, or have been in contact with a returning traveller or suspected carrier of the virus, please avoid in person meetings for the sake of everyone's health

As Christians, we need to be prudent and comply with the restrictions put in place by our provincial government. But we will not panic, because we are people of faith, people of prayer, people whose trust in the Lord. We will be agents of peace and hope. We will pray for each other, for our community of Devon, and for wisdom for those in government us and are making difficult decisions that impact all of us.

"Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

Psalm 91:1-2
